Coast editor Alex Fisher tested out a room at Byfords B&B in Holt, Norfolk. A good choice for avid foodies

WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
Located in Holt, this luxurious B&B is the ideal spot to explore the North Norfolk coastline. It’s just a short drive from the sandy expanse of Cley next the Sea and the saltmarshes of Blakeney, but is also a great destination itself, with a busy café and restaurant downstairs.

ANY LUXURIOUS TOUCHES?
Large rooms with Egyptian cotton sheets, duck down duvets and pillows, and Bang & Olufsen entertainment systems.

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
There are 16 bedrooms (including a ground-floor room with disabled access), and one apartment. Decorated in a traditional fashion with a modern twist, mixing antique furniture with contemporary fittings. Huge bathrooms, vast baths and wall-to-ceiling tiles set beneath original wooden beams.

BEST SEA VIEW?
You can’t see the sea from Byfords, but the beaches are just a short drive away.

HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
One of the busiest restaurants for miles, it is worth booking a table downstairs when you organise your stay. The relaxed atmosphere and wide selection of sharing plates and grazing dishes, such as crispy calamari with harissa, seafood pots and a local cheese platter, makes it an ideal place to meet friends and family. Child-friendly with cheery, welcoming staff. Children (and adults) can concoct their own ice-cream sundaes from gelato Byfords makes daily.

WHAT WILL IT COST?
One night B&B for two people sharing a room ranges from £155 to £205. DB&B for two people sharing a room is worth booking, and prices start at £195 per night.
