Coast-loving Celebrities Design Limited Edition Jute Bags

They’re fun, they’re funky and they’re for a good cause. What’s not to love about these new bags for life from fashion brand Seasalt Cornwall? Each of the five carriers has been designed by a celebrity in aid of The Fishermen’s Mission; a charity that helps support UK fishermen and their families. In 2015, the charity jute bag campaign raised over £6,000, so this year, with more designs to choose from, everyone’s hoping to top the total.

Actresses Eleanor Tomlinson (of Poldark fame) and Men Behaving Badly’s Caroline Quentin, TV presenters Julia Bradbury and Fern Britton, and fashion designer Barbara Hulanicki have each created a personal design based on their love of the sea.

Eleanor’s striking image features a scene that wouldn’t appear misplaced on our television screens. ‘I loved the idea of making it Poldark related – the sun setting behind Cornish clifftops and the silhouetted figures of Ross and Demelza on a galloping horse,’ she says. Caroline’s is reminiscent of past mackerel fishing trips, Julia’s of her time spent on the South West Coast Path, and Barbara’s depicts a mysterious mermaid emerging from the waves while Fern’s pictures a classic Cornish harbour. Each design is bright and trendy – ideal for use by sea and style lovers alike.

The Seasalt Cornwall bags are priced at £5 each (or two for £8), with 50p from every sale going to The Fishermen’s Mission. Why is it such an important charity to support? Caroline shares some wise words on the matter: ‘The people who live and work in and on the water are the beating heart of this beautiful county. That’s why I support The Fishermen’s Mission.’
