If you like adventure, entertainment and nature, then embark on an Isle of Wight getaway, and add a visit to this paradise island to your agenda for 2023.

Most people going on holiday probably have a mental ‘tick list’ for things they want to see and do while away. When you visit the Isle of Wight,  the only problem you’ll have is completing all you had in mind.

In fact, the last item on your list will most likely be planning a return trip to catch up on all the amazing opportunities you didn’t manage to fit in first time around!

If adventure is your thing, then adrenaline junkies are more than welcome on the island…indeed they are positively encouraged. Why not try a range of exciting outdoor adventure activities including mountain biking, paragliding, paddle boarding and coasteering? The island is the perfect playground, boasting a hugely varied landscape just waiting to be explored – from sand dunes to coastal caves surrounding crystal clear water ready to be dived into!

If it’s a more relaxing break you’re looking for, you could make the most of the wide range of wildlife and take a day out to go bird-watching. Or why not enrol on a course? The Isle of Wight offers a wide range, including yoga, art and golf. You can also enjoy a peaceful day’s fishing by a lake, or go for a bit more of a challenge with a sea-fishing charter.

The island also offers some great festivals that you can take part in, including the Isle of Wight Walking Festival and the Randonnee. Time your visit to coincide with one of these Isle of Wight institutions and get out and about exploring the island’s countryside.

If you love nature then you’ll truly be at home on the Isle of Wight. Firstly, make sure to take time out to spot a red squirrel or two…although they are an endangered species elsewhere in the UK and increasingly rare to see, the island’s thriving population of 3,500 of the cute critters makes them an important part of the environment there.

There are walks aplenty all around the island and a visit to the former medieval hunting forest at Borthwood Copse will have you marvelling at the vast array of flora and fauna. And with the Isle of Wight officially being the UK’s sunniest staycation spot you’ll likely have great weather while you are out and about as well!

Cyclists can live the dream on the island as it demonstrates the reason why it is known as being one of the top cycling destinations in the world. Not only is it home to some of the UK’s best scenery, it also has around 200 miles of cycle tracks, byways and bridleways to explore.

And getting to and from the island couldn’t be easier – travel over with your car via Wightlink or Red Funnel Ferries, or hop onboard the Hovercraft (the world’s only commercial passenger hovercraft service).
