coast editor-in-chief Alex Fisher invites you to join her for a day by the seaside on 18 May in Watergate Bay, Cornwall, where you can learn more about protecting the marine environment and enjoy a great lunch!

WHAT’S IN STORE?
Come and have lunch with me! We’ll eat a specially designed menu at renowned Cornish restaurant Zacry’s, in a stunning setting by the sea. It’s just a few hundred yards from one of my favourite beaches, Watergate Bay, where we’ll find golden sand, good surf and myriad rockpools to explore. Arrive for 10.15 and we’ll share coffee and pastries too!
BEACH CLEAN
We’ll be joined by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), which works tirelessly to protect our marine wildlife, and we’re going to give them a hand cleaning the beach and conducting a survey that helps the MCS lobby for government legislation to preserve our coastal landscapes and give us cleaner seas. In addition to teaching us more about the local marine environment, the MCS will take us on a rockpooling expedition, where we will learn about some of the amazing creatures we can easily find around the British Isles.
MEETING PEOPLE
As well as being a great family-friendly day out, the coast Beach Clean is also suited to those who want to come alone and meet new, like-minded people. One of my favourite days of the year, I relish the opportunity to meet some of our readers in person and chat about our mutual passion for the coast.

HOW DO I BOOK?
As we are having lunch and morning coffee, the day is a ticketed event with limited spaces. Tickets costs £20 per person for coast subscribers, or £25pp for non-subscribers (under 5s are free and it’s £12.50 for children aged 6-15).
