Best B&B: Seavista, Mawgan Porth, Cornwall

WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
Seavista overlooks the golden sands of Mawgan Porth, a quiet, pretty village between Newquay and Padstow, on the rugged North Cornish coast. It’s a short stroll to the dog-friendly beach and great surf, and there are stunning nearby walks and fantastic local eateries.

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
The B&B is a fresh, bright new-build that reflects the love of coastal life. There are seven double en-suite rooms, each with their own style of décor. Three have sea views, while the others look over the green valley behind. Wallpapers and fabrics from Cath Kidston and Pip Studio reflect the owner’s relaxed, cheerful style. Nice additions are the range of teas and coffees in the room, the good-quality toiletries, and the big comfy sofas. The breakfast room is in the same shabby-chic style with colourful accessories.

ANY LUXURIOUS TOUCHES?
There is a large, bright guest lounge and a sundeck with great views. They offer an ‘honesty bar’ of hot and cold drinks and alcohol in the lounge. There’s also a self-catering lodge with two double en-suite rooms, stunning views and a sundeck with a wood-burner and a hot-tub for cosy winter breaks.

HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
As well as a full English, there are some healthy options on the breakfast menu. I loved the homemade granola served with a fresh fruit compote and Greek yogurt, and the smoothie of strawberries, blueberries and banana. For a beach picnic lunch, they offer to make sandwiches. In the evening, we ate out and enjoyed the relaxed vibe both at Off The Beach, just a short walk away, and at Café At The Park in Mawgan Porth.
