WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
Right next to Gyllyngvase Beach, St. Michaels Hotel & Spa overlooks the sea and its own sub-tropical gardens. Large south-facing windows let light in from the coast to create a bright and breezy atmosphere. The hotel is a 15-minute stroll from the harbour and town centre, and so is a tranquil base from which to explore Falmouth and the beautiful surrounding area.
WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
Coast stayed in a large room, with an outdoor terrace and a view over Falmouth Bay. All rooms are stocked with ESPA spa products, plus the usual creature comforts. The light and airy ambiance that begins at the front door carries through to the rooms.
ANY LUXURIOUS TOUCHES?
An on-site spa, indoor pool and south-facing sun deck are a treat. The individually tailored and impeccably delivered spa treatments were among the best I’ve experienced.
BEST SEA VIEW?
Rooms are categorised by size, view and whether or not they have outside space, so you can book the perfect one for your taste and budget. And the very best of the sea view rooms have panoramic vistas.
HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
The two-AA Rosette Flying Fish restaurant offers a great choice of beautifully presented à la carte dishes, with ingredients from local suppliers and the hotel’s kitchen garden. Cream teas are served throughout the day. The real stand-out, other than the superb view from the restaurant, is the cooked-to-order breakfast. The ‘house beans’, which come as part of the Full Cornish, are worth a return trip in their own right.
WHAT WILL IT COST?
A small cabin room and breakfast starts at £65 per person, per night, while extra large rooms with sea views and a balcony start at around £100 per person, per night. Seasonal and specialist breaks are on offer, ranging from gardening to foodie options.
