WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
This centrally located hotel in Falmouth has recently added two stunning new apartments, Landlubber and Lookout, to its accommodation offering. Styled by award-winning interior designer Helen Hughes, both have floor-to-ceiling windows, their own private Jacuzzi hot tubs and views over the gardens, making them surely some of the most desirable holiday residences within Falmouth. These apartments are the most recent part of the lavish refurbishment of the hotel undertaken by owners, Nick and Sioned Rudlin.
ANY LUXURIOUS TOUCHES?
The hotel boasts an indoor swimming pool, spa and treatment rooms with highly experienced therapists, as well as a fabulous restaurant, Rastella. The gardens are a tranquil haven in which to relax after some time exploring this bustling coastal town.
WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
Both apartments have two bedrooms, two bathrooms (including a hand-tiled wet room) and a spacious kitchen/living area. Helen Hughes has chosen divine colour and texture combinations to create a luxurious, contemporary interior that perfectly reflects the location and history of the building. The comfortable beds have crisp, Egyptian cotton sheets, and a glass
of fizz under the stars in your own private Jacuzzi is hard to beat.
BEST SEA VIEW?
The best sea view is of Falmouth Bay from the private balcony of the Lookout.
HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
The light and airy three AA-rosette restaurant, Rastella, showcases Cornish food and drinks. Whether it’s line-caught mackerel, Cornish cured meats and cheeses or Tregothnan tea, you will find it here on head chef Hylton Espey’s menu. You can also sample great cocktails (try a Stormy Weather or a Truffle Noir), a very reasonable lunch menu – with market vegetable soup priced at just £6, for example – and an excellent evening menu, where creativity reigns. Dishes range from the Working Boat: Cornish Oyster, Exmoor Caviar, Pickled Granny Smith, Beurre Noisette (£12) for starters, to the Tregothnan Estate: Roe Deer Saddle, Venison Hotpot, Coastal Path Bramble (£24) for mains. A real treat.
WHAT WILL IT COST?
The apartments, which sleep four people, cost £300 per night (minimum three-night stay) and from £1,900 for a week-long booking.
