Alex Fisher stays at Bodysgallen Hall in North Wales

WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
Bodysgallen Hall is extremely unusual in that all of the profit generated by the hotel goes to charity. The property is one of three hotels donated to the National Trust in 2008 by Historic House Hotels (the other two are Hartwell House and Middlethorpe Hall). Many people visit just to see the award-winning gardens.

ANY LUXURIOUS TOUCHES?
A fantastic on-site spa; guests can enjoy an indoor swimming pool, spa bath, steam room, sauna and gym.

WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
There are 15 rooms in the hotel, decorated in a traditional style with antique furniture. There are also 16 cottage suites dotted around the grounds, ideal for a secluded getaway.

BEST SEA VIEW?
Although there isn’t a sea view from the hotel, the views of the surrounding gardens are glorious. The nearest beach is less than 10 minutes’ drive away.

HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
The restaurant is excellent. It has been awarded three AA rosettes and offers delicious lunches, afternoon tea and fine dining in the evening, with a focus on high-quality local ingredients. The menu includes seared hand-dived scallops with pork belly and Welsh lamb cawl.

WHAT WILL IT COST?
A double room, including breakfast and use of the spa, starts at £179.
