The Underwater Photographer of the Year (UPY) results have been revealed and they include a fantastic selection of images from the UK.
Matt Doggett, from Southampton, has been named British Underwater Photographer of the Year 2015 for his wonderful photograph of diving gannets in Shetland (see image above). Other UK entries included photos of seals, sharks and macro close-ups of marine life.
In its debut year the competition received an impressive 2500 entries across 40 countries and 10 categories.
As well as celebrating global underwater photography, the competition sought to bring back a world-leading underwater photography contest to Britain, and in doing so marked the 50th anniversary of the first Brighton Underwater Image Festival.
As well as professional entries, the competiton welcomed a host of amateur photographers too, across locations as diverse as Scotland and Singapore.
