Coast editor Alex Fisher visits the Blakeney Hotel in Norfolk
WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
One of the few hotels to have an indoor pool in the area, the Blakeney offers fantastic views over the quayside and the estuary. The rooms in this privately owned hotel have recently been refurbished in a laid-back but luxurious fashion.
ANY LUXURIOUS TOUCHES?
Plenty! There’s an on-site spa with Jacuzzi and sauna, a spacious bar and lounge and the pool overlooks lovely, manicured gardens.
WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
There are 60 bedrooms in the hotel, all beautifully decorated, ranging from doubles with four-poster beds, to family suites that open out on to gardens.
BEST SEA VIEW?
The rooms with the sea views are popular, so book ahead. If you don’t manage to get one, you can always hang out in the upstairs lounge, where you can see right across the quay to the sea beyond. Make the most of the coastal location by taking a trip out to see the seals at Blakeney Point.
HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
The hotel restaurant has been awarded an AA rosette for the last five years and concentrates on local produce where possible, serving crab, asparagus and mussels when in season. It offers a three-course meal with coffee for £29.
WHAT WILL IT COST?
Prices start from £95 per person per night for B&B, add £14 for a room with an estuary view. If you stay for more than two nights, dinner is also included in the tariff.
