Karen Allan reviews the Hotel Hebrides on the Isle of Harris
WHAT’S THE BUZZ?
Renovated to city-boutique hotel standard on one of the most beautiful islands in the world, four-star Hotel Hebrides nestles near the harbour, where you can watch the ferries roll in and out from mainland Scotland while eating in the AA Rosette restaurant. The bar, which also serves food, has exposed stone walls and friendly staff.
WHAT ARE THE ROOMS LIKE?
All 21 bedrooms – including deluxe king-sized doubles, twin rooms, family rooms and single rooms – have contemporary décor with en-suite bathrooms.
ANY LUXURIOUS TOUCHES?
From the complimentary bath oil for luxuriating in the big tub, to the soft snowy white bedlinen, all you need is provided for.
BEST SEA VIEW?
With one window overlooking the sea loch and another looking out onto the harbour, the view from Room 210 is hard to match.
HOW ABOUT THE FOOD?
Contemporary Scottish. The locally smoked haddock and leek risotto topped with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce was delicious, and the battered fish with chips, peas and homemade tartar sauce was also tasty.
WHAT WILL IT COST?
Rooms start from around £160 per night for a classic double hotel-hebrides.com
