Having rarely spent as much time at home as we have done this past year, we’re all in need of a little escape to recharge, and where better to do it than in the heart of the British Isles

Whether rejuvenating in a retreat to soothe the soul, or out exploring the wide blue yonder, the Isle of Man has endless space to revive and make you feel alive, where you can choose to do everything or nothing at all. As the first entire jurisdiction in the world to be awarded UNESCO Biosphere status, the island is a nature lover’s paradise. Whether you are heading here for a romantic getaway or a break with the whole family, falling in love with the natural wonders of the Isle of Man will be top of your itinerary.

If you’re looking for total peace and tranquillity, lose yourself among a world of tangled trees at one of its 18 National Glens, where tumbling waterfalls, deep rock pools and incredible scenery await you. Or for dazzling displays of blooms you may also wish to take the Manx Electric Railway from the island’s capital, Douglas, up the east coast to Ramsey where you can visit the Milntown Gardens, where 15 acres of gardens and woodland are just waiting to be explored.

The Isle of Man’s shores are also home to many fantastic beaches. From sandy stretches to pebbly coves, you’ll find the perfect spot for a picnic, walk or even a swim. Over on the west of the island, there’s beautiful Peel Beach, which is overlooked by an ancient fortress – Peel Castle. With its golden sands and idyllic views, here you can enjoy a visit to Davison’s Ice Cream Parlour, which sells luxury, homemade Manx dairy ice cream and chocolates. Lots of other quaint seafront pubs, cafés and seafood restaurants can also be discovered in Peel, which is known locally as ‘sunset city’ for the phenomenal sunsets it is known to see regularly.

Alternatively, try something different and grab a glass of rhubarb fizz in Port Erin at Foraging Vintners. This working winery produces non-grape based varieties of sparkling wine using local products like rhubarb, elderflower and honey, and is a wonderful place to enjoy the taste of nature while admiring the breath-taking views across Port Erin bay. Wander in wonder this summer as you explore the vast openness that the Isle of Man has to offer.
